WSIB Ontario compliance reviews
WSIB letters about premiums, classifications, or audits are workplace-insurance matters, not income-tax audits. The paperwork still has hard dates.
What these reviews cover
WSIB may review how workers were classified, whether premiums were reported on the right earnings base, or whether clearance-related reporting is complete. Letters can request records or propose premium adjustments.
How a review typically runs
You receive a scope letter, provide payroll and contracts, answer classification questions, then may receive a decision or revised statement. Disagreement routes are set out in WSIB appeal materials, which differ from CRA objections.
Deadlines to watch
Document due dates in the review letter and appeal deadlines after a decision. Premium invoices also carry payment dates that interest can attach to.
What to gather
Premium statements, payroll summaries, contracts for contractors, classification correspondence, and any clearance certificates tied to projects.
Important limits
Informational only. Classification disputes are technical—use WSIB channels or a representative.
